Decluttering is one of the easiest and fastest ways to feel abundant. It’s also a great way to attract new and potentially better things in your life.

You must have heard many times while preparing for Diwali that Maa Lakshmi loves cleanliness and comes to homes that are clean. So, in today’s blog I share my tips for decluttering your environment (outside & in) and welcome Maa Lakshmi into your life this festive season.

Where to Start Clearing Clutter?

  1. Start with a Clear Vision: Before you dive into decluttering, take a moment to visualize the life you want. What do you want your space to look and feel like? Having a clear vision will motivate you throughout the process.

  2. Tackle One Area at a Time: Begin with one area, like a closet or a desk, and work your way through it. Breaking the task into smaller chunks makes it less overwhelming.

  3. The "Keep, Donate, Toss" Approach: As you go through your belongings, categorize them into three groups: things to keep, items to donate, and stuff to toss. Be honest with yourself about what you truly need and love.

  4. Sentimental Items: Dealing with sentimental items can be tough. Instead of keeping everything, select a few items that hold the most meaning to you. Consider taking photos of the rest to preserve memories without the clutter.

  5. Minimalism: Embrace a minimalist mindset by asking yourself if an item adds value to your life. If it doesn't, consider letting it go.

  6. Digital Decluttering: Don't forget about your digital life. Organize your digital files, unsubscribe from unnecessary emails, and declutter your digital workspace.

  7. Personalize Your Space: As you declutter, take the opportunity to personalize your space. Display items that bring you joy, art that resonates with you, or photos that evoke fond memories.

  8. Create Systems: Establish systems to help you maintain a clutter-free environment. Use storage solutions, labels, and designated spaces for different items.

  9. Regular Maintenance: Decluttering is an ongoing process. Set aside a specific time each month to review your space and get rid of any items that have accumulated.

  10. Mindful Consumerism: As you move forward, be mindful of what you bring into your life. Make intentional choices about new purchases to prevent future clutter.

Decluttering is so incredibly effective that it feels like magic.

Don’t trust me, yet? Try it out for yourself and feel the difference.

Decluttering is a transformative journey that transcends mere physical tidying. It's a process of simplifying your life, allowing space for what truly matters. Starting small, crafting a clear vision, and adopting a mindful approach can lead to a clutter-free and more meaningful existence.

By creating empty space, you will invite positive change to enter your life this Diwali.

Love & Light,

Rima
